Digital Education and Digital Learning (Digitallabor)

Digitization is increasingly important in vocational training, schools, and even university teaching. Various open educational technologies, approaches, and methods are available that can be applied to digital learning in a fruitful way. In this context, there is often a lack of understanding of basic digital concepts and educational approaches for learning and teaching. Together with our project partners in the fields of vocational training, basic language learning, and university-level learning, it is intended to use the opportunities offered by digitization for vocational education and training and to open up access possibilities for multipliers, learners, trainers, and teachers.

The aim of the project is to develop digitization concepts for the implementation and use of digital learning methods for educational institutions and training providers in vocational training.

Achievements

The project aimed at the entire transformation from non-digital learning artifacts to learner-centered and didactically meaningful digital educational measures. In addition to digital learning resources and learning technologies, further education and training measures to increase digital competence, computer competence and search competence were developed over a project period of two years. The transformation is divided into three main steps: The digitization step serves to generate digital learning content that can be used in education. The transformation of existing analog learning resources and didactic processes should also be mapped digitally and, if possible, made available as open learning resources (OER). The digital transformation should integrate these learning resources in virtual environments and thus offer a pool of suitable technologies in addition to digital learning resources. These are prepared in terms of media didactics in such a way that learners can build up competencies and skills in a learner-centered and targeted manner, both in synchronous modules and in self-directed, asynchronous modules, primarily using digital means. The transformation processes and technologies are accessible to the general public as a “Dozenturio” platform.

The project was an initiative of the district of Groß-Gerau and the district’s municipal job center to strengthen digital education and digital learning in a vocational and school context.
