European connected: h_da accepted in the EUA

15/11/2019/in Action, Action, Allgemein, News, Research /by Dirk Burkhardt

The Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is now a full member of the European University Association (EUA). At its council meeting on 28 October 2019, the EUA approved the application for h_da. The admission criteria included proof that the university is a valid research organization and has sufficient quality management. It was also required that the German Rectors’ Conference support the motion.

The EUA is a non-profit organization and, with over 800 members in 48 countries, the largest association of European universities. It promotes transnational exchange between university management, teachers and administration. At the same time, as an interest group, it influences EU policy in the field of higher education, research and innovation.

“Membership gives us the opportunity to strengthen the voice of universities of applied sciences at the European level,” emphasizes Prof. Dr. med. Arnd Steinmetz, Vice President Research and Scientific Infrastructure and outlined further, “The admission to the EUA is an honor for us.”

New Collaboration Network Started for European Collaborative Research Actions

28/07/2019/in Action, Action, News, Project, Research /by Dirk Burkhardt

We have successfully initiated a new European Research Network to strengthen and supporting actions in respect of European collaborative research. The main goal of this network is to create a sustainable European (but not limited on Europe) strategic alliance to foster European research and innovation in the area of Visual Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Simulation, Prediction, Smart Manufacturing and Technology and Innovation Management including innovations for business, manufacturing and eGovernance. On the fundament of the research network, research actions such as preparing a funding proposal (e.g. COST actions) should be faced and simplified in particular toward finding partners and expertise.

The research network is a major goal and outcome of the EuroStraNet project. The project was setup to define a strategy, build an initial fundament and finding partners to start with this new strong collaboration ship.

If you as researcher and/or representative of a research institution or company are interested in joining the network, you are more than welcome. You are just asked to mail us a logo of your institution and a brief description of your research area and interests.
