Ted is a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science. He has a BSc in Computer Science from University College Cork and a PhD from the National University of Ireland, Galway. Ted has been working in the area of artificial intelligence since 2002.

His research expertise is in the area of machine learning, deep learning and meta-heuristic optimization. He has both led and participated in a range of multifaceted AI research and development projects. These projects have focused on the development and application of optimization techniques (such as evolutionary algorithm) and machine learning algorithms to a diverse set of problem domains such as supply chain optimization, load balancing in wireless networks, micro-grid management and water and energy modelling on Irish dairy-farms. Ted is also a principal investigator of the Ríomh research group.
