Alexander Kock is full professor of technology and innovation management at the Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany. His research interests include organizational issues of innovation and project management, especially the management of innovation portfolios, highly innovative projects, the front end of innovation, corporate foresight and university-industry collaboration.

He studied business engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) at Technische Universität Berlin, Germany, and Technology Management (M.Sc.) at Stevens Institute of Technology, NJ, USA. After he completed his doctoral studies (Dr. rer. oec.), he led a research group on the management of complex project landscapes and portfolios. In 2013, he received his habilitation degree from TU Berlin.

Alexander teaches graduate courses in innovation, and project management, and collaborates with industry partners such as Merck, Bosch, Siemens, and Bayer. He regularly conducts industry benchmarking studies in project portfolio management, for which he received the IPMA research award in 2013. He is an editor at the Project Management Journal and on the editorial board of several journals. He published over 100 journal and conference articles and is co-author of a widely used textbook on innovation management (Hauschildt et al., 2016). His research is published in various journals, including Journal of Product Innovation Management, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, R&D Management, Creativity & Innovation Management, International Journal of Innovation Management and International Journal of Project Management.
