Iván Castilla-Rodríguez received his B. Sc. and M. Sc. in Computer Engineering from Universidad de La Laguna, Spain, in 2004. He obtained his PhD on Modeling and Simulation from the same university in 2010. He worked as Health Economic Modeler until 2015, when he returned to Universidad de La Laguna as Assistant Professor. His research fields include applying modeling, simulation and soft computing techniques to solve problems in any area but, especially, in health care and economic evaluation. He is also working on automated generation of simulation models.
Juan Albino Méndez is full Professor at University of La Laguna in the Department of Computer Science and Systems. Main research lines are related to control engineering: predictive control, intelligent control and control applications. He obtained the PhD degree in 1998 awarded with the award to the best PhD Thesis in the engineering field in his University. He has participated in 26 research projects (7 from the Spanish government, 10 from the Canary Islands government and 9 with private companies). He was the principal researcher in 4 of them. He was awarded with the Best Young research Award in 1999 of the Canary Islands government. He has been in research stays in prestigious universities: at Oxford University in the research group of professor Basil Kouvaritakis and in the ETH in Zurich supervised by professor Morari.
Currently the two main active research applications are modelling and control of the anesthetic process and Intelligent control of renewable energy system.
