Vanessa Kokoschka is a researcher at the Faculty of Media at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. She researches and teaches in the areas of sustainability communication, digital transformation of journalism, and news usage behavior of a young audience. In her Ph.D., she is researching the influence of algorithms on editorial decisions in climate journalism. The interdisciplinary Ph.D. project at the Doctoral Centre for Sustainability Sciences is located at the intersection of computer sciences and communication sciences. Furthermore, she is editor-in-chief of the platform Grüner Journalismus.
Vanessa Kokoschka holds a Master’s degree in Media, Technology & Society from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. In her Master’s thesis, she analyzed the social media strategies of environmental newsrooms in German-speaking countries. During her studies, she worked as a freelance journalist for the Ippen Group (Offenbach-Post, Frankfurter Neue Presse, Frankfurter Rundschau) and the Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
