We are happy to welcome two international interns to the Human-Computer Interaction and Visual Analytics research group at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences as part of the DAAD RISE Germany program.
From May to August 2026, the interns will join our team in Darmstadt and contribute to ongoing research activities at the intersection of human-centered AI, visual analytics, and interactive systems.
Mazen Asali (McGill University, Canada) will work on the design and development of a UI-based evaluation system for Large Language Model (LLM) outputs. The goal of this project is to create an interactive interface that enables users to compare and assess model-generated content by combining automated evaluation metrics with human feedback. The system will include side-by-side comparisons, user-driven rating mechanisms, and visual analytics components for exploring aggregated results.
Kenisha Kaushal (Arizona State University, USA) will enhance our analytical pipelines with support for natural language interaction. Leveraging Information Retrieval and Recommender techniques, the project aims to introduce a reliable and user-friendly interaction to our automated visualization authoring and dashboarding modules.
Through their work, the interns will gain hands-on experience in front-end development, human-computer interaction, and AI-supported systems, while contributing to current research efforts within the group.
We are looking forward to working with them and to the insights and results emerging from their projects.
