Dresden University of Applied Sciences, Dresden, Germany
Dresden University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1992, and the institution has developed a significant engineering and economics profile that is complemented by artistic skill. The university possesses a regional and international focus and a broad range of practical experience-oriented programs combined with diverse experience in applied research projects.
The Dresden University of Applied Sciences is one of the leading universities of applied sciences in the field of cyber-physical production systems in Germany.
Dirk Reichelt coordinates the R&D research activities related to Industrie 4.0 topics. Since 2017 the university operates the Industrial IoT Testbed (IIoT Testbed). One of the largest R&D and testing facilities for cyber-physical production systems. The testbed provides a wide set of state of the art and industry-ready components. E.g., 2 AVGs, several cobots from ABB and UR, industrial robots from ABB, and Mitsubishi, a complex smart factory with various application modules, a set of wireless sensor networks, several real-time location services, a data lake system etc. The IIoT Testbed welcomes more than 1000 national and international visitors per year. Prof. Reichelt and his team of 15 researchers cooperate with national and international partners in various projects. We provide R&D services, organize IIoT workshops, consult companies on Industry 4.0 strategies and provide training on Industry 4.0 use cases. The research focus of Prof. Reichelt and his team is on decision support systems for shop floor operating using IIoT data and cognitive production systems. We are one-stop shop solution provider for the IIoT shop floor solution. Starting with the design of the digital twin, providing virtual commissioning services, building demonstrators plus prototypes using IIoT data.
