As part of our ongoing efforts to advanceHuman-Centered-AI, we co-organized and attended the Empath-IA Workshop at CHItaly 2025 — The International Biannual Conference of the Italian SIGCHI Chapter 2025 in Salerno, Italy.

The workshop offered a great opportunity to exchange ideas on empathy, interaction, and artificial intelligence, bringing together researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of technology and well-being. Kawa Nazemi presented meaningful insights into the work developed in collaboration with Cristian A. Secco, focusing on Visual Analytics and AI for Healthcare, including analysis of Longitudinal Patient Data, AI Agents for Elderly People, and Cognition by Design through AI. The presentation emphasized how interactive visualization and AI can enhance understanding, transparency, and cognitive support in health-related contexts. The main focus was introducing AI-supported cognition by Design approaches to enable and expand human cognitive abilities. We are grateful to the organizing team, Rita Francese, Iasevoli Felice, Mariacarla Staffa, and Laura De Santis, for creating an inspiring environment to explore how empathy and design can guide the future of AI.
